What is Body Mass Index?
Body Mass Index is commonly called “BMI”, which is a measurement based on your weight, and your height. It tells if your weight is high in relation to your height.
It is more of an indicator that tells if your weight is healthy or not in correlation with your height. It has several categories. Underweight, normal, overweight and obese.
Being in any category other than normal needs attention.

Body Mass Index Ranges, Should I be worried?
You may be worried if your result is obese or overweight. In fact, you should have been worried before knowing your BMI.
Being Overweight or Underweight has many associated diseases and risk diseases. Commonly, being overweight or obese is associated with high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, heart diseases and diabetes.
On the other hand, you may consider being underweight is a normal thing and it is not bad for your health. Being underweight is not as dangerous as being overweight but, it also has some associated diseases.
Vitamin deficiencies, anemia, decreased immunity, and overall weakness is associated with underweight people.
Is BMI Calculator right for you?
Body Mass Index could actually work for most people, but it has some limitations. Because it only uses your total body weight instead of muscle mass and fat mass.
If you are a bodybuilder and you have a lot of muscle mass, when you calculate your BMI you may be considered as overweight. WAIT WHAT?? That’s because your weight is considered high in relation to your height, not because you need to lose weight.
Also, Elderly people with little muscle mass and high body fat percentage could be considered normal. While they actually are overweight.
If you are a normal person and not an athlete, BMI is good for you.
