Custom Steroids And The Effect Of AS On The Female Organism
Now that we’ve went through the definition of Anabolic Steroids, the main myths, misconceptions and side effects, which we observe with illegal production, we can discuss custom steroids, and the overall influence of AS on the female organism.
Prohormones
What are prohormones?
Prohormone is a substance, that turns into a hormone or its active metabolite under the influence of different enzymes.
This name is used incorrectly for another group of substances that have androgenic or anabolic activity once in the organism.
This group, we can split to 3 sub-groups- Real prohormones, prosteroids and custom anabolic steroids.
Real Prohormones
In this group, we observe the 4-androstendione and 4-androstendiol, which under the influence of the 17-beta-HSD and 3-beta-HSD turn into testosterone.
They are natural prohormones and are synthesized in the human body by the DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone)
It is good to know that if taken externally, both prohormones hardly turn into testosterone- 5-6% for the first one (4-androstendione) and 15-16% for the second one (4-androstendiol).
Prosteroids
In this group, we observe many substances that turn into a certain anabolic steroid, once in the organism. Therefore, we call them prosteroids and not prohormones.
Some of the most popular prosteroids are the 19-norandrostendion, 19-norandrostendiol, 1-androstendiol, 1,4-androstendion, 17 alpha-methyl-1,4androstadien-3,17-diol, etc.
Custom Anabolic Steroids
The third group of substances, mistakenly referred to as prohormones, are the custom anabolic steroids.
These are AS, created and forgotten a long time ago, or were recently gained in an attempt to go around the doping control or the ban of steroids in most countries around the globe.
Just like the previous group, this one contains many substances, and we will only mention the most popular ones: Epistan, chlormethylandrostendiol, 1-testosterone (which is an oral version of testosterone)
Particular attention needs to be paid to methyldrostanolon, which is the strongest, most potent custom anabolic steroid, which is structurally close to the dorstanolone. Unfortunately for the fans of this custom steroid, it’s banned by the FDA and the original substance is no longer produced.
However, you can find replicas of it with almost the same effects and side effects- High risk of gynecomastia and cholestasis.
The last substance in this group, which we will mention is the cyanostane. It has structural similarities to methyldrostanolone, also referred to as superdrol and of course, has similar effects, even though its estrogen activity is lower.
Some researches on AS show that cyan group steroids can suppress the 3-beta-HSD enzymes, which can lead to highly unpleasant side effects upon the hormonal system of the organism.
Anabolic Steroids And The Female Organism
After everything we said so far, what we have left to tell you is the effect of AS on the female organism.
Female Vs. Male Organism
Before we dig into the possible effects and side effects of AS on the female organism, let’s differentiate the female and male organisms.
- Differences in the hormonal system
The main sex hormone in the female organism is estradiol.
Testosterone secretion is very little and doesn’t involve the transformation of another hormone, compared to the testosterone in males, where estrogen is synthesized.
Increased cortisol levels lead to an increase in the levels of estradiol. Again, unlike the male organism, where testosterone increase lowers cortisol and vice versa- high cortisol lowers the testosterone levels.
Progesterone is the second most important sex hormone in females, as it regulates the ovulation, menstrual cycle and the effect of the thyroid hormones, which are lower compared to the male organism, except during the female’s period.
- Body fat levels
If 5-6% body fat is considered the lowest point a male can reach with no negative consequences for the health, then for women it’s twice as much- 10-12%.
Other differences in the female and male organism are linked to the influence of AS on the female organism. These differences are:
- The females’ weaker calcium retention, compared to males
- The lesser amount of muscle mass, and the dominating number of slow-twitch muscle fibers
- The earlier stop of skeletal development, therefore- a smaller and weaker skeleton, compared to males
Referred to the training process itself, these differences lead to the conclusion that the female organism cannot withstand extensive, high intensity/density workouts, and have a hard time gaining muscle mass.
That’s when women decide steroids would help them.
Well. Do steroids really ‘help’ women?
Side Effects Of Anabolic Steroids On The Female Organism
Even though AS intake by females has its place in medicine, where we rarely observe side effects, the doses of AS required to achieve sport results are inevitably damaging.
The main side effect of steroids for women is virilization.
Virilization is expressed in the appearance of typical male traits on the female body.
Some of these side effects are
- Face and body hair growth
- Balding
- Acne
- Voice deepening
- Disruption of the menstrual cycle
If you’re a female that has made the decision to use performance enhancing drugs, in order to improve your sport results, or gain muscle mass, it’s a good idea to stay away from these following substances:
- All long-term esters of the testosterone (enanthate, cypionat, undekaonat) and testosterone as a whole.
- All custom steroids and prosteroids
- Methandrostenolone
- Stanazolol
- Methyltestosterone
- Proviron
- Fluoxymetholone
- Drostanolone
In this list we can see substances that are strongly androgenic or have strong anti-estrogen properties.
It is good to know that doses for females should be way lower than those for males, and the steroid cycles themselves should be significantly shorter.
Unfortunately for females, who use steroids, there is no possible post-cycle therapy that will get your endocrine system back to normal, after a steroid cycle.
What you can do as an enhancing female is stop your cycle and let your organism regulate its hormonal levels on its own.
Taking aromatase inhibitors is pointless, when it comes to preventing side effects.
This is the last, fourth part of our articles on anabolic steroids, and we hope to have captured all the important questions and misconceptions around the use and production of steroids.
It’s important to know that while we do not support the use of anabolic steroids, we cannot stop anyone who has decided to do so.
What we tried to do with this series of articles is give you knowledge on the possible effects and side effects that you will observe during a steroid cycle.
Stay natty!
